A product that can fulfill a user’s need of having multiple SIMs without actually buying a new handset is ready to be launched in India.
The US based equipment manufacturer Motorola is in talks with Indian telecom service providers to bring in iSIM (intelligent SIM), a flexible wafer that is attached to subscriber’s original SIM.
It provides additional services that can be controlled via SIM tool kit (STK) and other standards that work across mobile handsets, such as JAVA and SMS.
World’s largest cellphone maker Nokia will launch its unlimited music download service in India soon.
Nokia on Thursday launched its unlimited music downloading service in China, in a move to strengthen its position in the world’s biggest mobile market.
The unlimited music download offering in China will add further momentum to Nokia’s leadership in the world’s highest growth markets, including Brazil, Russia and Indonesia, the company said in a statement.
Airtel digital TV- the DTH service from Bharti Airtel – today announced the launch of ‘Airtel digital TV Recorder’, an enhanced Set Top Box (STB) with capability to record live television, anytime, anywhere. Samsung Electronics, which is expecting its dual sim phones to contribute 15 per cent of its total handset volumes this year, will launch its own Operating System, Bada, in the second quarter of next fiscal, said Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director, Mobile and IT, Samsung India here on Wednesday.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Saturday launched the country’s first commercial urban mobile WiMax network in Ernakulam. The service was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas.
BSNL is the first operator in the country to launch commercial mobile WiMax service, for which technical support is being provided by Aviat Networks. “In the initial phase, 450 base stations will be set up across the state at a cost of Rs 100 crore, which will cover all the major cities and district headquarters.

New Delhi-based 2ergo, a provider of mobile enabling technology will launch location-based services in India by next six months, Ramesh Krishnan, chief operating officer, 2ergo told Telecom Yatra.
Location-based service (LBS) is a form of marketing and communication that uses location-tracking technology in mobile networks to target consumers with location-specific advertising on their mobile devices. Speaking on the forthcoming launch, Krishnan said, “Last year, 2ergo launched a LBS-based mobile application for one of our clients, Rightmove, in UK. Now we plan to launch it here in India.”
