Karbonn Mobiles now title sponsor of ‘IPL Nights’

Handset manufacturer Karbonn Mobiles, a joint venture between Delhi-based Jaina Group and Bangalore-based UTL group, on Tuesday said it has inked a long-term sponsorship contract with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As part of the deal, Karbonn Mobiles will be the IPL’s Official Partner Mobile Phone, Karbonn said in a statement.

Indian Premier League (IPL) and its licensing partner Global Cricket Ventures (GCV) have tied up with July Systems, to launch an IPL mobile internet service, designed for the Indian market. 

Users can access the service from their mobile phone by calling MiX (Mobile internet eXperience (MiX) platform toll-free number 08 123 123 123 or by accessing m.iplt20.com.

Videocon soon to launch GSM mobile services

Consumer durables gaint Videocon today announced that in the next 100 days it will be rolling out its commercial GSM mobile services in 100 Indian cities and expects 10 million subscribers in three to four years.
 
According to the earlier announcement the company plans to use its extensive all-India dealer network (over 10,000 existing Videocon dealers) to reach customers and expects to have 10 million subscribers in 3-4 years of launch.

Google planning lighter version of Nexus One for India

The Internet giant Google is planning to launch a ‘mini’ version of Nexus One which will be pocket friendly.

The executives of Google India are right now busy in planning the strategy and the Google India head Mr. Shailesh Rao told CNBC TV 18 representative Mr. Ankit. After an editorial meet with Google India Head, Mr. Ankit informed this via a tweet on twitter.

BSNL brings 3G in Andhra Pradesh

Bharti Airtel, announced that it has successfully completed the deployment of the “Traffic Police Enforcement Automation” system by providing BlackBerry® smartphones to all the officers of the Bangalore Traffic Police.

Dr. V.S.Acharya, Hon. Home Minister, State of Karnataka in the presence of Mr. Shankar Bidari IPS, Commissioner of Police Bangalore City presented the last lot of 10 BlackBerry smartphones to the Bangalore Traffic Police personnel. With this, the Bangalore Traffic Police department has equipped all 650 officers a BlackBerry smartphone, giving them access to the large central database of vehicles, drivers and offenders.
